Fukushima Nuclear Disaster in 2011 shed light on the working conditions in all nuclear industries around the world. At the crippled power plant in Fukushima, Japan, thousands of workers are still working to contain the damage, while being exposed to high levels of radiation. The current labor conditions and cover-ups give little protection for the health of the hundreds of thousands of workers. We call for a solidarity with irradiated workers everywhere and for abolition of nuclear energy and weaponry that is built upon the sacrifice of human lives.
Irradiated labor has expanded into people’s everyday life near the Fukushima plant due to the State negligence and TEPCO’s negligence. Mothers, fathers are standing up to protect lives of the children, and the young people are raising voice to protect the future.
This May Day, join us and put on a hazmat suit to imagine the invisible radiation.
No Heroes.

メーデーの日は今年も、世界各地で労働者の権利のためのデモやイベントが開かれます。ご存知のように、日本ではいまもなお続く原発の収束作業に、毎日沢山の人々が、被ばくを要求されながら従事しています。二年前の事故直後に福島第一に残されたわずかな労働者たちは、欧米では「英雄」と称されました。しかし、「英雄」として彼らを賞賛される「他者」である彼らと、私たちとの距離は一層ひろがるばかりです。彼らの多くは常に被ばくと
向き合っています。彼らはロボットではありません。
なぜこのような過剰な被ばくを強いられる世界がつくられているのかを、共に考え、既存のシステムから反対方向に少しでも進むため、わたしたちは原発労働の実態を明らかにせよ、と訴えます。そして原発を廃止せよ、と呼びかけます。
さて、「労働」とは、かならずしも賃金を稼ぐための仕事には限られません。いまや深刻に汚染されてしまった福島第一原発の周辺で、未だにたくさんの人々が暮らしいます。国や東電が補償を出さないため、自力で放射能から子供を守らなければいけなくなったお母さん、お父さん、そして未来を守ろうとたたかう若い人たちがいます。彼女らの日常の家事や放射能を避けるための営みもまた、命を守るための労働です。それでも、若い世代を健康に育てるため、沢山の努力がなされています。目には見えにくい日常の変革が起こっています。ともに彼女らの思いを可視化し、原発のない世界につなげていきましょう。
こちらで防護服を用意します。真っ白の目立つ防護服で一緒に歩いて、「原発はいらない」と訴えませんか？
ヒーローなどいらない。
彼らはロボットじゃない。
私たちはモルモットじゃない。
